We believe, listen and support.
Our aim is to provide a safe space for survivors of sexual violence across
East Kent. We offer access to therapeutic and practical support to help
people rebuild their lives.
East Kent Rape Crisis vision and mission is to create a community where women and girls are free from all forms of sexual violence and to achieve this within a feminist, equalities and human rights framework. In addition, we provide services for male survivors. We provide help/ hope and healing to all those impacted by sexual violence and cultivate a safe, non-violent community.
We have a "By and For Women Only" pathway and women-only safe spaces in all our venues.
It is our mission to:
- Respond to and promote the needs of those who have suffered sexual violence through the empowerment feminist model of work.
- Reduce the impact of sexual violence by support, educating, informing and advocating for all survivors.
- Challenge oppression in all forms.
- Challenge societal attitudes that condone and collude with sexual violence.
EKRCC Anti-racism Commitment Statement
At East Kent Rape Crisis Centre, we are committed to intersectional feminism, anti-oppression, and anti-racism. Racism inflicts profound harm on individuals and society. Racism causes immense harm, affecting mental health, perpetuating inequalities.
- We will begin this with our own organisation, the issue of racism exists within the Violence Against Women and Girls sector and in the wider sector.
- We will develop our practices and alongside our sister agencies within the feminist movement of Rape Crisis England and Wales.
- We will act, putting in time and resource to work towards racial equity.
- We will prioritise this work and commit to our action plan.
- It will be the responsibility of all members of EKRCC to create an anti-racist feminist organisation.
- The Trustee Board and Leadership team oversees the strategic direction of this work to ensure timelines of implementation and the action plan is completed.

Counselling
The personal impact of sexually violent and coercive behaviour can be devastating, and it is not necessarily true that "time heals all wounds". Whether you are feeling afraid, confused, alone, angry or a multitude of things, a trained counsellor can offer you the support you need - in whatever capacity you feel you need it.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
We offer this service as an alternative way for you to speak to someone where it may be too early for traditional counselling. These sessions will be working on normalising thoughts and feelings, understanding how the brain and body can react to trauma and exploring coping strategies that work for you.
Independent Sexual Violence Advisory Service
This is an entirely independent Advisory Service for those who have experienced sexual violence or coercion, offering advice and enabling you to access the appropriate pathway to meet your needs.
